How I helped a Computer Software Consultancy manage resources effectively
A computer software consultancy with a team of 50+ consultants and trainers providing project consultancy throughout the UK.
Their problems
Shifting deadlines and requirements made their resource planning increasingly complex. They needed to utilise personnel whilst giving them the opportunity to develop their skills whilst accommodating clients with different needs and timelines. Predicting future resource availability is essential to ensure that upcoming projects are adequately staffed. Allocating consultancy time to existing customers to ensure that their needs were met.
What I did for them
1) Built close working relationships with Professional Services Managers (PSM’s), Account Managers, Sales Team
2) Monitoring the sales pipeline using CRM and talking to sales team and PSM’s
3) Putting teams together based on competencies, availability and location whilst considering personal development plans, personal preferences, client requirements
4) Schedule consultants’ induction, workshops, team meetings, internal training programmes, conferences and annual leave
How what I did helped them
1) Consultancy teams available for new business and existing customers
2) Ensuring your team are being utilised and are positive and engaged
3) Resources utilised effectively
4) Travel time reduced between jobs, reducing costs
5) Predicting hiring and resource needs, identifying skills gaps when hiring
6) Reducing attrition rates, key resources stay because they are getting work on meaningful projects
7) New business delivered effectively and existing customer retention rate high
8) Account Managers confident that appropriate resources will be available
PS: I’ll be keeping all my clients details confidential as they’re not always comfortable with their customers knowing they sometimes use a little help!
